We hope you are staying safe and well! Today’s blog is a simple one! Its all about why you should choose dance, and all the benefits that come alongside choosing to dance!
There are a huge range of benefits to dance and choosing to dance. So today we are going to take you through some of our top reasons to choose dance for yourself and your child!
1 – Dance is a stress release! Dance gets the blood pumping and releases the feel good hormone – serotonin! Dance classes allow children students to find a positive release and adults a chance to step away from work/life and focus on something different. Allowing release of stress within ones day!
2 – Dance encourages flexibility and agility in the body! Dancing allows the body to gradually become more flexible and agile through repetition of work. Flexibility can help individuals within daily life as the body is less likely to strain. Which prevents pulled muscles and other minor injuries.
3- Dance improves aerobic fitness! – Dance requires the body to work in the aerobic zone which allows the body to start to work harder meaning your breathing and heart rate will increase during these activities! Over time your aerobic fitness will increase by increasing your heart’s capacity to send blood (and hence oxygen) to the muscles. Better Aerobic Fitness improves overall general fitness and allows for general tasks to be completed with less stress on the body.
4 – Dance helps to encourage a Childs vestibular sense! The vestibular sense, is a sensory system that provides contribution to the sense of balance and spatial orientation for the purpose of coordinating movement with balance. For example as a child wobbles on one leg whilst balancing in a dance class, their vestibular system detects head movements, sending signals to the brain, which after processing, sends signals to the body, telling it how to respond & stay balanced.
5 – Socialisation! Dance is a great way to socialise with others in a safe and happy space! Dancing creates a social life for its participants, while allowing us the opportunity to meet new people. Being socially involved leads to increased happiness, reduced stress!
